On Facebook, I selected certain photographs to showcase our trip to California, Nevada, and Arizona. You can see the complete Facebook album of photos by clicking on this sentence. The boys were so enthusiastic, positive, adventuresome, and interested during the trip. They were the best travel companions. I hope they remember this trip for a lifetime. I will.

We're here at my brother's and the boys are happy. And why not? They've hot tubbed, beached it, toured Hollywood, Beverly Hills, UCLA... and taken a boat around the Newport Beach Harbor. On Monday, we head off on our road trip to Joshua Tree National Park, Mojave Desert, Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Sedona... and more. Here are a few photos.

I know you don't know much about baseball in Europe. Just let me say that the boys were simply spectacular in their first-ever baseball game. I was a very proud American Dad. The complete album will be found by clicking on this line. To enlarge the photos below, just click on them....

The boys loved New York City and their hosts... I decided not to compete with the Big Apple. Instead, I simply assigned some chores, including Bailey's winter poop yard and our messy car. To see the full album of photographs, just click on this line.

Thank you, Adler Family!

At the moment, Rasmus & Felix are trucking up the East Coast toward Boston. They had a fabulous time visiting the Adler Family in Port Washington, NY. On Friday and Saturday, they trained into NYC for tours; on Sunday, they traveled to a local landmark called Sagamore Hill. The home of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States, Sagamore Hill was also known as Roosevelt's Summer White House. Throughout the stay, the boys sent several pictures and comments about "Famous Dave's'" BBQ Ribs; I'm guessing my Mac-n-Cheese ain't going to cut it anymore. Many thanks to the Adlers for hosting Rasmus & Felix. Another terrific life memory for The Foreigns.

"Hi!" from Bailey and Rich

It's a quiet morning in Rumford without the boys. While Facebooking with them, I took this PhotoBooth pix while at work. When I said "Pose for the boys!" Bailey turned his head to look out the window. Maybe he's missing them and that's why he slept on their beds last night.

The boys bused down to New York City yesterday and landed at the Adler's home in Port Washington, just outside the city. This morning they'll take a train into the city and visit Central Park, Times Square, and other NYC sites.

Last Ski Day!

4/15/2015

The last day of skiing this past Sunday brought a number of great memories and a bit of emotion. The boys have loved Black Mountain of Maine. I believe that years from now Rasmus and Felix will tell friends and family about their own private ski area in the western mountains of Maine... and on many Friday and Saturday nights, they did have the ski area to themselves. Here are a few pictures from the last day. I went hiking nearby and returned to the sunny mountain in time to enjoy a glass of wine on the lodge's deck with two former students.

Thanks to the Promms we ended up with a terrific collection of soccer shirts. That said, it was 11:00pm when we tried to take a picture so you can see we all look a bit haggard!

Food in a Wintry Spring....

4/2/2015

As this winter slips into springtime, I’m losing my grip on dinner. Last weekend I made three comfort foods on one night: burgers, Mac-n-Cheese, and pizza. Pathetic. Then, I saw a recipe on a friend’s Facebook site and tried it. Eggs, avocado, and salmon on sour dough bread… Delicious. But what do to for tomorrow?

April Fools... "I've never hated you more than I do now," says Rasmus.

So I went into the boys' room: "Did you see the news on Facebook?"

"What?"

"Water main break... No school!"

They smiled, laughed, high fived. Rasmus jumped onto Felix and hugged him.

I left; came back in 5 seconds later.

You know the rest.

The annual end-of-season fling at the mountain includes pond skimming. The man-made pond is about 25 meters long. Both boys were successful. You can hear Bailey barking in the background as his brother flew by.
